Weekly Blog on my letter

Weekly Blog

This week was very short because of our break for Veterans Day. Then when we got back we started our letter to Mr. Cuttatree.

The resource that was the most useful this week was the draft paper for the letter to Mr. Cuttatree which we filled out.  It had the basic ideas on it so we just had to make it more diverse on the letter we wrote. The letter would have been 10 times harder without this draft so I'm glad we had it. So this was the best resource I had. This draft was a great starter on my project.

I thought the work this week was pretty hard. It would have been harder without my draft. I liked that we got to start very quickly and use all the info we already had.  I think we had a great amount of info. This was a great thing to get to do.

Letter to Mr. Cuttatree

 Dear Mr. Cuttatree,

I am writing to you today because you are building the Uppity Resort. I think it is a very bad idea. There are always affects in every situation I see you do have positive ones .   These affect are like giving people jobs. There are also non positive effects as well.

Here is a reason. There is a lose of animal effect to it. Even ones that we don't know are even there. If people keep deforestation up than we will have no more animals left. Deforestation will leave animals with no homes, food, and water.

There is also the loss of water that comes from it. The rain forest rains because of the multitude of trees in the area. Trees help along the rain cycle. So from cutting down trees we get droughts.  So cutting trees down often will make us have not as much water.

Then thee is the loss of  substantiating regrowth. So think of it this way . When the trees are cut down you kill a lot of younger trees in the area . So there are two effects. One is that the trees will take even longer to regrow, than also sometimes the trees don't even grow back.

So in conclusion it is a very bad idea to build your resort. It will effect 3 thing animals, water supply, and  regrowth. So as you can see there are always positive an non positive effects in every situation. This resort will harm the world around us and cause many problems for the environment. Mr. Cuttatree I think you shouldn't build your resort.

The Rain forest's importance

The Rainforest

All organisms can have a big impact on the rainforest. An example is the red eyed tree frog ,which I learned about this week.
I started this project with alot of info  that I already knew. Like where Red eye tree frogs live which is in the rain forest. However, I did not know all about the red eye tree frogs at first.  Something I didn't' know was that they are nocturnal, which means there active at night. Another interesting fact I learned is that they are carnivores, or meat eaters, as well. Finally didn't know that If the red eye tree frog was gone that the whole ecosystem would be off balance which would cause overpopulation in its prey and overpopulation in its predators.

I liked the work this week because we learned about the importance of every animal's role in an ecosystem. I also liked that we got to learn about an animal and what it does to the environment. Then we got to figure out what eats it as well.
Meanwhile we learned new and exciting facts about creatures. Then we got to make a food web chart of what eats what and who eats who. After all this week  my  favorite thing we did has to be that I got to learn the importance of every organism  and that I can make a difference in the rainforest as well.
