Cell Wars

Summary:  The campaign of the century. These are the parts of the cells. All  life has cells so this campaign is very important. Normally the nucleus ( the brain of the cell) is in power, but it's up to us to elect a new leader of the cell. We got  assignment the Ribosome. It's a very important part of the cell because it provided protein for the cell and without that the cell would surely perish. Ribosomes are actually found in a great abundance in the cell. They are small yet very important.

S&EP:
Arguing from evidence: This week we argued from evidence will working on the odd one out worksheet. In this worksheet we had to find something that was unlike the rest. This sparked scientific arguments. For example, we asked " What makes something alive?" For this we had lots of different answers because we had to remember first what are organism that are alive in the world. One of the questions asked find the odd one out horse muscle, leaf of a plant, sugar. We had to ask ourselves is sugar alive, why or why not? This sparked very interesting conversation which were very informational.

XCC: Patterns:  When we worked on the odd one out worksheet I saw lots of patterns. These patterns are the ones that define life verses lifeless. A  question that we had was find the odd one out horse muscle, leaf, sugar. At the end we said sugar but the way we got there was more interesting. First we had to ask What do all living things have in common. They have the same pattern to each and every one. For example a human grows, breaths, reproduces and gains nutrients but so does a plant. Then we started looking at the patterns between life. We all were made of cells which had different parts to them. Throught this activity we saw lots of patterns and shared characteristics.
