09/26 "Organelle Traill"

                                                        09/26 "Organelle Trail"

What resources did you use while working this week? Which ones were especially helpful? Which ones would you use again?

This week while working in class on our Wanted poster, my partner and I used Google to search for our pictures of a vacuole. During this week, we also visited Ms. Garcia's class website to go to The Organelle Trail. This is where we got most our informational websites in order to complete the Wanted Poster assignment. I thought that the class website was the most useful. I plan to go to the class website often to get my information for Ms. Garcia's class.

9/19 The Cell

In class, I learned many things about cells. One thing I learned is that in a plant cell there is the nucleus, vacuole, chloroplast, cytoplasm, plasma membrane, and the cell wall.

Before class today, I knew that there were cells in your body, but I never knew they did such a big job. I learned in our lesson that we have different cells that do different jobs. We have blood cells that travel to other parts of the body. We have cells that help digest our foods. Also, there are plants cells too. Learning about cells was vey interesting. I also found out the plant cells have a cell wall, but animals cels o not have a cell wall. Even though cells are small they do more than you can imagine.

Letter to the School Board

Recently, our teacher received a letter from the school board stating that science has been fully discovered so there is no point in teaching it anymore.  Furthermore, they suggested that the time previously spent on teaching science should be used on other subjects like english, math, and history. I argue that science helps people get a better understanding of the world. Therefore, science classes should not disappear.

If science disappears eventually more people would start to die.  This is because people would not receive treatment to new diseases that may come our way.   We will never know the cure to cancer and people would continue to die from it.

Another reason why science should continue to be taught is that science helps spark creativity in children.  Science feeds your curiosity which will make  us want to experiment which will help create our future products.  This curiosity helps inspire our youth to try new things like making new jobs and hobbies.

Science is used in are every day lives.  Science is used in cooking so if we stop teaching it we will not make any new kinds of food.  Also, without science in the future we will not be able to predict the weather more accurately.

On the other hand, some believe that we have completely discovered science. And they are right, we have discover all we can so far. However, I believe that we have only open one of the many door science has to offer.

In conclusion, there are lots of reasons you should keep science in schools. Science is in are every day lives, need in the medical world, and for the design for future products.  I propose that we not only keep science but  have more class than  we already have. Again, this is why you should keep science.
